Pack your suitcase with wonderful books for the whole family. Enjoy cosy read-aloud moments on the beach, in the summer house, or at home on a rainy summerday.

The youngest readers can go on adventures with 'Little Panda' and explore 'Busy Town', while the whole family can look forward to setting sail on the seven seas with 'Kalle and Captain Skipper' in a brand-new Ole Lund Kirkegaard story, never published before.

You can also read about the many different ways of being friends, and hop aboard the cargo bike as 'Thit & Suleima' head off on their journey.

Have a wonderful summer!

Taarbæk, Denmark

Jakob, 5, and Kamma Marie, 1,5, share a wonderful room in the most idyllic small town of Taarbæk, just north of Copenhagen. Together they share a space that works great for both of them.

Old furniture, great vintage finds, soft textiles and handmade items all add charm and set the tone: In here, nothing is meant to follow a certain style, and nothing is meant to be 'done'. This is a room that grows with the children and changes as their needs evolve.

Explore this cosy shared room, where the decor is a reflection of the family's way of living: Here, things cannot be rushed but develop over time as life unfolds.

Space on the floor, a small desk, a doll house on the floor and a bed for two: There is room and a place for both children here.

Seen above: A classic guitar by the bed, a red suitcase from a set of three on the shelf, a puzzle on the floor and a yellow round basket in the corner.

The old chest of drawers originally came from Jakob and Kamma Marie's great-grandmother. Now it is in use in their room.

On it, 'Den travle by' from Gyldendal, a game of chess, a picnic tea set and a large, red mushroom lamp.

A coral-red ship from Habtic Lab hangs by the door to the garden. Behind, two vintage rackets, which were bought on a flea market, hang on the wall.

Jakob is reaching an age where he enjoys focused play more and more, for example drawing or building something. That usually happens right here, at the little desk.

A 'Little Panda' book from Gyldendal on the table; small storage tin boxes are seen next to the book.

Purple shorts, a pair of Crocs in colour Bone, a few dresses and an oval basket – and Kamma Marie is ready for a warm summer day.

The beautiful quilt is a gift from Jakob and Kamma Marie's grandmother. Handmade by herself, she's created and gifted a quilt to each of her grandchildren.

Teddies and '100 første ord' from Gyldendal lie on the lower bunk.

The book 'Kalle og Kaptajn Skipper' lies on the table next to paper and watercolours; a little wool llama and three small storage tins are also found here – one with sardines, one with a mackarel and one with olive oil.

The two doors open directly to the garden, allowing fresh air, nature and lots of sunlight to come in.

Three red suitcases are placed on a shelf over the desk.

A wooden puzzle lies on the floor on one of the two rugs that add softness and subtle colour to the space.

Two rattan baskets hang on the side of the bunk bed, and are filled with teddies. Use a rattan bicycle basket to create a similar look.

An old Elsa Beskow poster hangs over the chest. Explore Elsa Beskow's illustrations here.
